Vibration Art Exhibition

February 17th will be the date of my next exhibition alongside Charlotte Wensley, Nicky Carey & Meagan Streader.

The venue will by White Canvas Gallery in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. Opening night will be Friday the 25th of February 2011 from 6-9pm.

I'll be creating some new work inspired the show's theme, "Vibration" that will complement exisiting works.

Melbourne Trip - Art Series Hotels

I was recently fortunate to have participated on a work trip down in Melbourne on the 1st weekend in October. We managed to cram in 10 hotel inspections, an evening performance of the fabulous musical "Hairspray", a morning tour of Melbourne's infamous crime scenes (surprisingly interesting), a visit to the Abbaworld Exhibition and dinner on Melbourne's trendy dockside.

We stayed at the Olsen & the Blackman, 2 of the Art Series Hotels and we also visited the Cullen (Photo of reception at The Cullen above). I LOVED these hotels and not just because of the wonderful art. The staff we so friendly and helpful, the hotels themselves were amazing, the rooms gorgeous and filled with art and the latest in contemporary interior designs. I can't imagine these types of hotels anywhere else in Australia. They are VERY Melbourne!. Actually, I can see these working well in New York or Berlin.

I wonder if there will be a hotel named after me? The Behrens has a nice ring to it, don't you think? :)

Big Art 2010

Last Thursday night, I attended Big Art 2010, an art auction raising money for The Big Issue. I donated a painting "Greatest Hits Volume II" and it raised much needed funds for the magazine. All up Big Art raised approx 17 thousand dollars which is a tremendous achievement. I managed to pick up a Matt Stewart original to add to my personal collection. I'm stoked! Here's to an even bigger and better Big Art 2o11!!

3 Exhibition

I recently had my 4th solo exhibition opening at Inspire Gallery Bar in West End and I have to say the experience was positive & stress free.

I had around 40 people attend the opening reception and Inspire provided the wine and the cheese platters, leaving me to mingle with the guests. I've done the whole self-cater, rope in my friends to help out and I'm not going to do that ever again. The Inspire experience was was stress-free and I'll be exhibiting there again in September 2010.

Yay, my new website will be launching next week. I've been given a bit of help getting a word press website set up and I've been adding in all the content and bells and frills and whistles and stuff!

Time is ticking away this year and time is fast approaching for my debut exhibition outside of Australia.

I will be exhibiting in a group exhibition alongside other artists from Australia & New Zealand in the group show "Out from Down Under & Beyond - Fine Art from Australia & NZ" being held at Agora Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Dates of the exhibition are 11th of May until the 2nd of June with the opening reception being held on Thursday the 13th of May 2010 from 6-8pm. I'm really looking forward to heading over to New York again to attend the opening and hang out with some wonderful friends and fellow artists! I can't wait!! Bring it!!

This new piece was created last weekend and is called "Sturner Zone".

New Art

This is a new piece titled "Shield of the Masculine". This piece was painted at Richard Randall Studio Gallery at Mt Coot-tha in Brisbane a month ago whilst I was exhibiting there for the weekend with some other artists.

An inquisitive child ran her fingers through this piece whilst it was still wet, but I managed to salvage the piece!

Spring Palette Exhibition this weekend

If you enjoy art as well as nature, get yourself along to the Richard Randall Studio Gallery at Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens this weekend 10-11 October 2009 for my exhibition "Spring Palette".

I will be exhibiting alongside 4 other talented Brisbane artists in this 2 day only exhibition, featuring art representing Spring!

Morning tea provided on opening day (Saturday the 10th of October)

Artist demonstrations will be held on Sunday the 11th of October. There will be affordable art on sale this weekend as well as cards & gifts.

The exhibition will be open from 10am till 4pm on both days!

I currently have a collection of art at Kylie Farrelley's Energy Art Gallery, 30 Florence Street in Newstead QLD. Gallery is open from 10 am till 2pm Tuesday to Saturday.

I am also at Tracey Keller Gallery, Oxford Street, Bulimba QLD every Sunday from 10 am till 4 pm. I have a small collection of work available and I'm painting on site as well.

I also have a small collection at Toscannis Restaurant at Northlakes QLD.

This weekend 18-19 May, I have 4 pieces at the Artscape Art Show at Padua College, Stafford QLD. Opening times are 9am till 4pm

La Feminine

Here is a piece created last year called "La Feminine".

I wanted to play with pink again (I don't play with that colour much) because it's such a relaxing colour. I feel totally serene when using this colour and as it's a symbol of universal love, "La Feminine" seemed an appropriate name to give this piece.
